bio: buster

Charles "Buster" Beam began his writing career in the mid-fifties after winning a song contest and having his song recorded by Lynn Howard & The Frontiersmen on Sage & Sand Records.  He began writing with Lawton Jiles in 1958. He served as plugger and co-writer they have had dozens of songs recorded over the years. Most successful were six songs recorded by Patsy Cline and all of them recently are on the Patsy Cline Collection Box Set, which went gold in 1993 and reached platinum status sometime later.  Other artists such as Janie Frickie, Porter Wagoner, Norma Jean, Jann Browne, Rusty Draper, T. Texas Tyler, Carl Belew, Katy Moffet, Kathy Bee, and more including foreign artists.

Buster spent several years with 4-Star music as a consultant and had a hand in reviewing and finding many songs that went on to become standards in Country Music. He was an astute plugger and managed to get their songs presented on radio by several artists some by Jeanne Black and her sister then appearing on the Cliffie Stone Radio Show in Pasadena.  He worked the Hollywood area plugging songs and talent visiting radio stations and promoting their latest work.

Buster is still active and spends a lot of his time writing and tracking the latest leases and new recordings on a worldwide basis.  He keeps track of Copyrights and keeps his pen and paper ready for a new idea!
